Contact Lens Fittings
At eye gallery, we fit all types of contact lenses including, soft, hard, hybrid, coloured or cosmetic.
Soft contact lenses are the most common type of lenses worn today. Traditionally they are reusable and disposed of monthly or bi-weekly but there has been a shift in recent years to daily disposable modalities in order to optimize comfort and reduce the risk of infection. Soft lenses can now correct all types of prescriptions including myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), astigmatism (irregularly shaped cornea) and presbyopia (loss of near accommodation). We are experienced with fitting all contact lens brands including Acuvue, Cooper, CIBA and Bausch & Lomb.
Hard contact lenses are becoming less common due to the advances with soft lenses, which typically offer better comfort and convenience. Hard contact lenses can, however, offer superior vision with complicated prescriptions so they are still used in certain situations.
Hybrid contact lenses combine the comfort of soft lenses and the superior vision of hard lenses in one. The center of the lens is hard and the outer edge is soft.
Coloured or Cosmetic Contact Lenses
Coloured or cosmetic contact lenses are used to cosmetically change the colour of the eyes or create a unique look as with Halloween costumes.
